Phase A
First phase of this project was to select a verb to base your project moving foward. This verb was the foundation of what the overall look of my book cover would be based on. Here is the brainstorming phase and the first couple steps in that process.
This project, for The Edible Book Festival was developed as part of an experimental yet adventurous project. The goal was to use items mainly for consumption to create a non-traditional font face and various typography. It challenged me to think beyond the norm of traditional type and focus on the uniqueness of the experimentation.
My concept began with a verb that became the foundation of my experiments, using tools like photoshop and InDesign I refined my ideas into tangible solutions.
I focused on composition and colors as well as visual hierarchy to best serve the concept. Feed back from my peers helped me improve and refine the ultimate vision for the final results.
one of the biggest challenge during the process was the time and attention to detail it took to create lettering and type of such a fragile item, however working through it taught me the importance of resiliency and flexibility as well as patience and ultimately strengthen the final result.
Phase B
In this phase we were tasked with creating our word with different items to conceptulize texture and depth to our words. In addition to this we had a quick critique to see what worked and what others believed work as well.
Phase c
In phase C, we concentrated and explored further with our method, and no longer worked on a verb but on the title of a book. We are tasked within the next phases to take that book title and render a new idea for the cover based on food, texture, background, depth and a chosen font and build on this idea.
Final Phase
The final process of this journey was to create our version of the books title and content to our liking which included our final method of choice to insert our food based typogrophy in the entirty of thr title itself or where we felt the most confident in.
